Kakiemon Plate

This is an unusual plate made by Ludwigsburg around 1800. It is hand painted with a Kakiemon design better known for Meissen porcelain so either it was just copied which was a fairly common thing to do back then or it was meant as a replacement piece for someone as a special order since it would have been cheaper than the Meissen original. Either way it is a superb piece with a boquet of colorful flowers as well as some greenery below with three butterflies and a few small Kakiemon style blossoms along the basketweave rim of the plate. The edge has a typical brown trim to it. I cannot recall having seen this design on one of their plates before so something a bit unusual for sure. The plate is marked with the CC mark in underglaze blue as well as two numbers by the footring as shown. The piece is between 1.375 and 1.625 inches tall so not quite even if you were to put it on a level surface upside down. The diameter of the plate is 9.625 inches. The plate is in great condition without any wear or chips, etc. The only issues is the uneveness caused by the firing but it displays perfectly! Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $599
