Liverpool Polychrome Floral Teapot

This is a really nice teapot made in the Liverpool area in the 18th century. I bought it as having been amde by John Pennington but I believ it was made by Philip Christian. Doesn't make a huge difference really. Quite difficult to find polychrome pieces that are this nice. The piece is hand painted with a superb polychrome enamel floral arrangement to the front and back, a couple of smaller single flwoers scattered about and a nice typical red trim to the top, handle and spout. The lid has a couple of single flowers and leaves with the same red trim along the edge and a bit of a trim to the tip of the finial. The porcelain is fairly thin with a bluish grey glaze and a slightly green transluceny. The set is in great condition with the usual age related flaws like minor firing flaws and a touch of wear. There are some harilines in the area where the spout attaches to the main body and some small chip to the lid mainly to the underside edge. The red along the lid edge is a bit darker than on the pot and there is a touch of bubbling in the glaze there as well. All in all a really nice looking piece that displays perfectly. The teapot is not marked which is the norm! It is 6.75 inches tall, 8 inches from spout to handle and about 5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
