Lamm Irridescent Luster Scene Cup & Saucer

This is a superb cup and saucer made by the Ambrosius Lamm studio of Dresden , Germany in the early 20th century. Actually it was really a decorating studio that painted blanks made by other makers which is also the case here. He founded the studio around 1887 and it closed somewhere around the beginning of the second world war. They made very high quality items and this cup and saucer set is a great example of that. The blank in this case was made by the famous Rosenthal factory. The saucer is hand painted with an amazing winter scene in irridescent luster colors of building near a river with a bridge over it with a person in the foreground and some trees in the background. The cup has a hand painted scene including a house with a stone wall around it as well as some trees in the background and a person in the foreground. Everything is covered by snow. The colors are amazing and fairly limited to this area and this time period so it's someting special for sure. Nice gold trim with raised dots to the rim and a great marbled luster ground to the outside of the cup. The cup is 1.875 inches tall and 3.75 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.75 inches tall and 5.75 inches in diameter. Both are in perfect condition. Both are marked underneath with the lamb / sheep mark with the words Dresden and Saxony as well as a gold flower mark hiding another mark of the manufacturer of the blank pieces underneath as shown. The cup also has a red number 643/4 which is probably the decoration number. An amazing, elegant and decorative cup and saucer! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
