Weichmalerei Fish Vase

This is a very rare vase made by KPM in the very early 20th century. I had actually never seen this shape until a found an oxblood painted one a few years ago and I still cannot find it in the literature nor can I find anyone else that knows it. The vase is really neat be it a bit out there :) It is in the form of a fish - it reminds me of the lion fish - handpainted with the superb softer colors of the period as well as lots of gold trim and bluish eyes. Just a fun piece to look at :) Look at all the detail and those eyes! The vase is marked underneath with the blue scepter as well as the red orb mark on the unglazed bottom. There is also a blue letter D and some impressed numbers on the side of one fin. The vase is in perfect condition which truly is amazing with all those fins and edges! The fish is 6 inches tall, 4.25 inches wide and 4.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $2749
