Weichmalerei Blotter

This is a nice blotter made by KPM in the early 20th century during the Art Nouveau or Jugenstil period. The blotter is hand painted with two amazing floral designs that are very detailed plus some nice gold and puce trim on a raised design all around the piece. Nice design to the top of the finial. All done in the softer tones of the Weichmalerei style of this period that their are so famous for. A bit hard to descibe all the detail but there are lots of pictures to look at as always. The blotter is 2.5 inches tall including the finial and 4.875 inches long by 3.125 inches deep. The piece is in great condition with some wear to the gilding along the outer edge of the main piece. It displays nicely! The finial comes of, then there is a washer, the flat porcelain piece and a wooden bottom all held together eith a screw as shown. The bottom of the porcelain piece is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark as well as the usual impressed marks as shown. It is marked as a second choice with a cut across the scepter. Likely because the main porcelain part is not sitting entirely flat so it leaves a gap on the one side as shown. Not a big deal and these blotter are super hard to find. It'll match perfectly with your inkwell from this set if you have it! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
