Lovers Scene Plate

This is a great plate made by KPM in the early 20th century. It is handpainted with an uncommon scene in the center of two lovers playing the flute with a basket of flowers next to them and surrounded by greenery. This scene is unusually large covering the entire center of the plate. I have only seen this style on a cup or two over the years never on a plate so this is quite nice and you won't find it again anytime soon. The colors are of the softer palette in the Weichmalerei style common during this period! Nice edge highlighted with gilding. The plate is in perfect condition with the tiniest of wear. It is 9 inches in diameter and 1.25 inches tall. The piece is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter, the red orb mark, some black painter's marks as well as the usual impressed marks one would find during this period on KPM pieces like this.
