Sugar Basket in Blue

This is a basket vase aka sugar basket or Schinkelkorb made by KPM in the 20th century. It was designed originally designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel around 1820 and comes in the outer white reticulated part and an inner colored liner / insert which in this case is blue in color. Both peices have a gold trim. The outer piece is amazingly reticulated which supposedly takes 3000 separate little cuts into the porcelain! The outer peice is entirely glazed with some gold trim to the foot part. The foot has a nice ring of raised "pearls" on it which gives it a very elegant look especially since the are gilded. The liner has a nice blue color that shows through the reticulated part when inserted and a gold top edge that hangs over the outer part. The set is in perfect condition. Both are marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark as well as the red orb mark and some black painter's marks as shown. The piece including the liner is 7.5 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $749
