Superb Art Nouveau Jewelled Plate #1

This is a really stunning Art Nouveau / Jugendstil plate made by KPM in the early 20th century. It is hand painted with six superb larger designs along the rim that are painted on a light blue ground changing from a deeper blue to a very light blue. The designs are painted using raised gilding with the tops being made up of their famous translucent raised enamels often referrred to a "jewels". The main design reminds me of the Olympic torch somehow. In between the six main designs are six smaller half flower designs also painted using their jewel like enamels. The edge of the rim has a gold and blue trim to it with a yellow ground color and more gilding going around the designs. The edge of the well has a deep cobalt blue trim with different raised gold designs with white enamel flowers and a light blue trim to either side. A stunning design that would have been very very hard to perfect and make through the firing process. One of the most complicated ones I have ever seen. The raised enamel effect and gilding does not show well in the pictures but it is stunning and quite proper for this period in porcelain. The piece is in perfect condition and is just over 1 inch tall and 9.875 inches in diameter. The plate is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter, the red orb mark, a gold painter's or artist mark as well as a blue painter's mark as shown plus the usual impressed marks of the period.
