SMS Kaiser Wilhelm II Plate

This is a plate made by KPM around 1900. It is from the large dinner service from the Officer's Mess Hall of the Imperial Navy ship " S.M.S. Kaiser Wilhelm II " which served as the flagship while he was with the fleet and was commissioned around 1900. The service was only used aboard the ship when the Kaiser Wilhelm II was present himself. The plate is decorated with five gold rings around the edge followed by a blue ring and then gold trim to the very edge. The top has two of Kaiser Wilhelm's flags crossed and the center depicts a golden chain of the Order of the Black Eagle which was the highest order of chivalry in the Kingdom of Prussia. The central design includes the Kaiser crown to the topwith little raised pate sur pate like beads all over it, a garland of little black eagles as well as golden medals, a blue ring around the center with gold writing stating HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE which is Latin for something like may he be ashamed who thinks badly of it. The very center has a large black eagle to it with a tiny grey shield in the center holding another black eagle with the orb and scepter. A superb design all around! Lots of history attached to the plate and it has a nice look to it as well plus it's hard to find them. The plate is marked underneath with the blue scepter, the red orb, some blue numbers and aritst's marks near the foot ring and the usual impressed marks as shown. The piece is 1.25 inches tall and 9.75 inches in diameter. It is In great condition with an area to the left of the crossed flags where the blue trim has discolored a bit over time.
