Signed Dog & Rabbit Plate

This is a superb Art Nouveau / Jugendstil scenic plate made by KPM in the early 20th century. It is handpainted with a top notch scene of a dog chasing a rabbit in a landscape surrounding including some tall grasses and bushes. The scene is of extremely high quality! The placement of the scene is unusual and really nice as you could use the plate without damaging the painting which is normally impossible since it would be in the center of the plate. The edge has a nice shape to it highlighted with gilding. Amazingly the scene is signed by the artist underneath the hind legs of the dog - hard to spot and I didn't see it until I took the pictures and looked them over. It is signed O.Graebner for Otto Gräbner - a painter at KPM that painted some superb animal scenes but is otherwise a bit of a mystery as very little is known about him nowadays. This is now the second piece I own signed by him by KPM and both are amazing quality pieces. Signed pieces are extremely rare with KPM and only happens on their very best pieces! Otherwise I have only ever owned one other signed piece and that was by the famous Aullich . The plate is in perfect condition which is always nice! It is 1 inch tall and has a diameter of 9.25 inches. The piece is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter, the red orb as well as a gilder's mark, the usual impressed marks common to the period and the title in black underneath Hund u. Hase (Hund und Hase). Please email me for more information or other pictures.
