Set of 12 Fish Plates

This is a superb set of twelve plates made by KPM in the early 20th century. Each plate is hand painted with a different fish design in the center including a large fish as well as some smaller fish or other sea creature with the rest of the well of the plate having a light blue ground color. The rims have a nice raised basket weave design to it with a gold trim to the nicely shaped edge. The plates are in superb condition ith the occasional minor small scratch but most plates are absolutely perfect! They are about 1.25 inches tall and 9.625 inches in diameter. Each is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter as well as the red orb mark and the usual impressed marks, painter's marks, etc. as well as the name of the main fish that is displayed on the front. These are Rochen ( Ray ), Aalmutter ( Eel Mother ), Meerbarbe ( Goatfish ), Dorsch ( Cod ), Lippfisch (Some sort of Wrasse ), Pfauenfisch (No idea), Brasilianischer Wels ( Brazilian Catfish ), Lotsenfisch ( Pilot Fish ), Knurrhahn ( Sea Robin ), Seebarsch ( Seabass ), Schraetzer (same name in English) and last but not least Meeraesche ( Mullet ). Please email me for more information or other pictures.
