Seger Superb Lidded Vase #1

This is a superb lidded vase, a giant ginger jar or even would be perfect as a cookie jar made by KPM in the early 20th century. It is superbly hand painted with a scene in orange tones on one side including angels in a cloud with a bird and a floral arrangement on the other side as shown. The main area of each piece has this superb turquoise ground color to it with a cobalt blue and gold trim to the edges. The entire bottom piece has a design that is meant to look like a ribbon all around the piece tied into bows to form handles on either side. The lid has a large bow as the finial. These are painted in the famous Seger enamels with the underlying color being a darker brownish color and the top a white color that "cracked" when it was fired and let the underlying color through. The effect is stunning and looks a bit like marble! The lid also has some nice gold trim along the rim. The combination of colors along with the size of the piece make is look amazing and perfect for display and use. And the best part is that I have a second piece to make a pair that I will also add to the site if anyone is interested in a rare pair! The piece is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark, the red orb mark, the usual impressed numbers and letter of the period and a painter's marks as shown. The udnerside lid just has a number under it which is normal. The jar with the lid on is about 10.75 inches tall and 7.125 inches in diameter. The handles stick out about1.25 inches from either side. The jar and lid are in perfect condition. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
