Seger Glaze Goatshead Vase

This is a superb vase made by KPM in the early 20th century in the Art Nouveau / Jugenstil period. The piece is handpainted with one of the Seger glazes whose depth of color is just amazing with the top layer being a turquoise type color and the bottom greyish color coming through in spots kind of like the currently popular crackle glazes for your house except is is perfectly smooth. Seger was quite famous for these new colors and glazes often copying earlier Chinese ones like the Sang du Boef (Oxblood) that no one else managed to copy until he came along. The shape of the vase is superb with a ram's / goat's head on either side forming the handles. Lots of nice gold highlights finishes off this perfect and elegant piece! The vase is in perfect condition. It matches another different shaped piece I own. The vase is 6.5 inches tall, 5.75 inches wide and 4.75 inches deep. The bottom is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter as well as the red orb mark, the usual impressed letters and numbers and an underglaze blue L.
