Seger Glaze Gilded Egg Shaped Tea Jar

This is a really nice porcelain egg tea caddy / jar on three feet with lid made by KPM around 1900. It is hand painted with one of their famous Seger glazes as well as some nice raised gold trim. Seger porcelain is very rare and sought after. He worked on copying the famous chinese glazes like the Ox-Blood glaze and crackle glazes. This is also one of his glazes. This piece is larger than the others I ahve owned over the years and has a different lid as well. Most of the time they have a flame type design to the lid and it sits flat inside the opening but this one here is different. The glaze fits very well and it fits perfectly into the opening which makes me think someone just didn't like the other type of lid and special ordered one with this type of lid since making a match after the fact that fits so perfectly would be a 1 in a billion shot. The entire piece with lid in place is 5.75 inches tall and 3.125 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath on one of the feet with the red KPM mark which is nice since most of the seger glaze pieces of this style were left unmarked. The jar and lid are in perfect condition.
