Scenic Lidded Dish

This is a superb scenic dish made by KPM around 1800. KPM used no painters mark like the red orb yet during this period thus you only have the blue scepter and impressed marks most of the time. Not sure if this a small serving tureen or a giant sugar dish but it is of top quality and handpainted with a large classical polychrome scene on the front as well as the back. Each scene has a lady by an altar and is flanked by fancy gilding on either side. Nice classical handle shape typical of the period and the lid edge has a colorful fancy trim to the edge and a nice knob highlighted with gilding. The scenes are of superb quality. The dish is in great condition with the knob having been knocked off and repaired ages ago with metal which left a hole on the udnerside lid and two on the sides of the finial where the metal can be seen. Doesn't take away from the piece at all! The piece is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter mark as shown as well as the usual impressed marks. The piece is about 5 inches tall and 5.625 inches in diameter plus the handles stick out a bit. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
