Blankenburg Weichmalerei Plate

This is a superb and very unusual plate made by KPM in the early 20th century. It has an amazing still life scene in the center including a jug with a double headed eagle armorial to the front that has some pink azaleas coming out the top, a bowl with some yellow and purple flowers in it and some white flowers sitting on the table the jug and bowl are sitting on. Nice dirty orange background color that reminds me of the tuscan orange plaster paint we have in our library room. The flowers are in the famous Weichmalerei style. The central scene is surrounded by two raised thin gold rings and then a rose wreath around that. The nicely shaped rim has a gold trim to it as well that reminds me of owls looking at me. An amazing piece and not something I have seen before or will again most likely. What makes the piece even more special is the fact that it is fully signed by the artist on the back. H. Blankenburg for Hedwig Blankenburg who worked alongside the more famous Paul Miethe and Franz Aulich who don't need any introdcutions. A truly superb plate and it is in perfect condition. The piece is 1.125 inches tall and 9.25 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter, the red orb mark as well as the usual impressed and painted on mars as shown and the artist signature as mentioned.
