Pheasant Scene Plate

This is a superb Art Nouveau / Jugendstil scenic plate made by KPM in the early 20th century. It is hand painted with a top notch scene covering the entire plate of three pheasant birds in a landscape surrounding inclduing two males and one female. There are some mountains in the background as well as a tree and grasses covering the area around the birds. Nice period appropriate gold trim to the rim. It's an amazing piece that looks stunning on the wall. The scene is signed below the feet of the bird in the front - H. Paul and known painter for KPM. Signed pieces are extremely rare with KPM and only happens on their very best pieces! I have only owned a handful of pieces where the scenes were signed. The plate is in perfect condition which is always nice! It is 1.25 inches tall and has a diameter of 10.5 inches. The piece is marked underneath with the blue scepter mark as well as the usual impressed marks one finds on pieces from this period. No red orb likely because it was ground down in the center since it sagged during the firing process and would not sit flat on a surface. Even now it's still a touch wobbly but grinding it down more would make the blue mark disappear as well and that would not be good. I tried to show a side view to show the center being lower than the outer ring. A piece of this quality would ahve been saved by any means possible to be able to sell it still. Luckily it was signed by the painter in the front so we know it was painted at KPM. Two holes added to the foot ring to be able to hang it safely on the wall.
