Pheasant Scene Plate #1

This is a superb Art Nouveau period plate made by KPM in the early 20th century. The plate is hand painted with a pair of pheasant birds sitting on a branch with some leaves to the side and background with the ground color of the well that would normally be left white fading from a light yellow hue at the bottom to white at the top. I have had a few of these plates over the years and this one is my favorite design so far. The rim is decorated in the Jugendstil style with raised gold scrolls and a slightly greenish ground color between the scrolls which is hard to see in the pictures. A truly superb plate and it is in perfect condition. The piece is 1 inch tall and 9.625 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter as well as the red orb mark as well as a painter's and gilder's mark and the usual impressed marks of the period. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
