Superb Pate Sur Pate Vase

This is a superb vase made by KPM in 1914. It is one of those pieces that has everything going for it - a superb combination of a very popular shape, a great size, lots of nice gilding in the Art Nouveau style and a rare pate sur pate portrait of a Greek (or maybe Roman) warrior on a light greenish background. This truly is a very elegant and decorative piece with lots of artistic value since we do not see pate sur pate pieces like this often at all! About as good as it gets from this period by KPM or any other maker! The vase is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter mark as well as the red orb, the black iron cross which dates it to 1914 as well as the usual other mark - impressed and the black painters mark of a 1 with dots around it. The vase is in perfect condition except for that the screw mechanism holding the vase and base together must have been loose at some point and someone used silicone to fasten it again. While doing that they didn't pay attention to the position of the base to the vase so that is a bit off. Not big deal and an easy "fix" if need be! The vase is a nice 13 inches tall and about 6 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
