Pate sur Pate Box

This is a rare pate-sur-pate porcelain box made in the Art Nouveau period by KPM around 1900. The top of the lid has a putto on clouds with a bottle of champagne in one hand and a glass in the other. This is done in pate-sur-pate on a pink background. It is signed as shown on the bottom right. The bottom of the box has a superb floral design in the Weichmalerei style using softer colors as does the inside bottom and top. The rest of the box has lots of superb raised gilding and soft yellows, pinks and greens in between. The box is marked on the inside with the underglaze blue scepter - first quality. These boxes would not have a red orb since it takes away from the design! The metal is probably gilded and it is nicely engraved with a fancy design. The box is in perfect condition with a few black areas just on the gilded metal but it comes off and just needs a polishing or cleaning which I don't dare do. The box is 2 inches tall, 3.25 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep.
