Oxblood Fish Vase

This is a very rare vase made by KPM in the late 19th century to about 1900. I have actually never seen this shape nor can I find it nor can I find anyone else that knows it. The vase is really neat be it a bit out there :) It is in the form of a fish - it reminds me of the lion fish - handpainted with a superb oxblood type glaze in reddish and blue tones and highlighted with lots of gilding! Just a fun piece to look at :) Look at all the detail and those eyes! The vase is marked underneath with the red orb mark on the unglazed bottom - the scepter mark is long gone - burned away during the firing processes which can happen on unglazed surfaces! There is also a black painter's number. It is in great condition with some minor restoration that is completely invisible. A very hard piece to photograph - it looks much nicer in person! The piece is a nice 6.75 inches tall. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $2249
