Superb Scenic Tabatiere

This is a superb tabatiere / snuff box made by Meissen around 1755-60. I am sure it is of this period and German though I cannot find this exact shape so it could well be by KPM as well but I am fairly certain it is a Meissen example. A box that is of superb quality with seven hand painted scenes as well as some nice puce outlined raised trim and a few roses. There are large scenes on the top, the inside of the top and the bottom and four smaller scenes on all four sides. The inside bottom part is left white for the tobacco. The quality of the scenes is superb and I like that the colors are a bit more muted than on many ones see but the painting detail is just amazing especially that of the inside lid scene! I always wonder how they could paint so well seeing that the heads of the figures are only a millimeter are so in size! The mounts on this piece are silver which has tarnished over time but could easily be cleaned if one wants to. The box is in great condition with two flat chips mostly to the glaze to the left top corner of the bottom front and to the right front corner of the lid. These are not obvious at all and the piece displays perfectly! There is barely any wear even the underside scene is in remarkable condition! The box is not marked which is normal but the silver has a shell hallmark as well as two others that date it to the mid 1750's to the early 1760s. The mounts are French but the box is definitely German. The snuff box is about 1.5 inches tall, 3.125 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep so a very nice size.
