Large Scheurich Apollo Figurine

This is a superb and large blanc de chine figurine made by KPM in the mid 20th century. It was designed by the famous Paul Scheurich who is often regarded as the most important designer of the 20th century in the world of porcelain. He exhibited three plaster models for production in porcelain at the Autumn 1917 exhibition of the Berlin Secession of which this was one. Meissen rejected to make them in porcelain but KPM accepted them and they are still being made today. One can see why! This figurine here is of Apollo the god of Art among a ton of other things. Very fitting! He is superbly modeled in the typical style of Scheurich in the form of a young man with just a thin piece of cloth covering his mid section. Standing on a nice base with a stylized tree growing in the back as support. A truly fun piece that is very well modeled with lots of detail and left in the white to show it all off. The figurine is in perfect condition which is always a plus especially with these long thin fingers. A large piece being 15.25 inches tall, 5.5 inches deep and 4 inches wide. It is marked with the underglaze blue scepter as well as the usual impressed marks as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1499
