Rare Kurland Kaiser Cup & Saucer

This is a very rare small cup and saucer from the famous Kurland service made by KPM in 1917 for the personal use of Kaiser Wilhelm the Second. This is one of the best and most popular services of the 20th century and this is only the second piece I have ever seen owned by the Kaiser for sale! The set has the typical nice turquoise ground rim with raised garlands in it in gold with a nice gold trim to either side. Both pieces have a nice hand painted floral arrangement as well as two small butterflies. An extremely decorative set plus with the Kaiser's monogram on the back - doesn't get better than this! The cup and saucer are in perfect condition which is really nice! The saucer is 0.625 inches tall and has a diameter of 4.25 inches and the cup is 1.75 inches tall and 2.25 inches in diameter. A demitasse probably for Expresso or Mokka coffee. Both are marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter, the red orb, the black iron cross as well as some black artist or pattern marks by the footring and impressed marks common to the early 20th century pieces. And off course the WR under a crown and the year 1917 under that in blue. Probably among the last pieces made for the Kaiser as 1918 was the last year of his reign.
