Knife & Fork Set

This is a fun set of a knife and a fork most likely made by KPM around 1780. Each has two handpainted bird scenes on the porcelain handle as well as three bugs. Nice relief design to the paste and the remnants of a gold line to the top. The metal parts are gilded but it seems (at least one the knife) that the udnerlying blades are original and were plated later. The two porcelain handles were not paitned by the same painter thus I think they were not always a true pair but are the same style for sure so I am not 100% sure. The metal part goes into the handle and there is a spot coming out on the other end to fasten it in place which was only done on early pieces! I am sure these are 18th century German but not totally sure if they are KPM as it is hard to tell sometimes. The two are in superb condition with a tiny bit of wear and the gold line is mostly gone. A bit of wear to the plating where the copper undercoat shows through. The knife ferrule and blade are marked but I cannot make anything out. The fork is 7.875 inches long of which 3.5 inches is the length of the visible porcelain handle. The knife is 8.75 inches long of which 3.375 inches is the length of the visible porcelain handle. The handles are about 1 inch wide. The porcelain is not marked or shall we say visibly marked since it would be hidden by the ferrule if it were to be marked which is normal. They come in an old leather box which is worn and stained a bit but ehey at least we still have it :) Please email me for more information or other pictures.
