Huge Hunting Scene Lidded Urn

This is a rather large and heavy lidded urn / vase made by KPM in the early 20th century. It's the largest piece by KPM I ahve owned and by far the heaviest :) It has a nice shape to it with two handles in the shape of horned faces with a gold leaf garland ring in their mouths, purple swags along the top part with four hunting theme designs and some bugs in between, gold leaf garlands held up by turquoise bows on either side along the main body with four superb hunting scenes filling in the spaces as well as some more butterflies and bugs and a nice foot with lots of gilding, more bugs and a pink and turquoise design to the top. The foot and main body are two parts held together in the typical fashion with metal fittings. The lid has an artichoke finial, nice gold trim and some more bugs. Really quite a nice piece to look at! The piece is in good condition with some wear to the gilding, two minor chips to the inside top edge hidden when the lid is in place and the turquoise bows to either side are damaged. One has both loops missing and the other just one. Otherwise it is in perfect condition and displays superbly! The urn with its lid in place is about 23 inches tall and about 12 inches in diameter. It is heavy and weights probably about 20-25 pounds! The bottom is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark - first choice as well as two imrpessed marks as shown. No painter's mark so probably painted by one of the Dresden decorating studios or a KPM painter at home but the painting is very well done and not some lousy quality!
