Flounder Plate

This is a superb plate made by KPM in the early 20th century. The plate is hand painted with a fish design in the center including a large flounder as well as a smaller one with a slight blue tint and water lines filling the rest of the well of the plate. The rim has a nice raised basket weave design to it with a gold trim to the nicely shaped edge. The piece displays perfectly but has a thin chip off the very edge of the palte as shown. The plate is 1.25 inches tall and 9.625 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter as well as the red orb mark and the usual impressed marks, a painter's mark, a black 11/11 as well as the name Flunder which means flounder in German.
