Superb Scenic Pipe

This is a superb porcelain pipe bowl made by KPM in the early 19th century. It is handpainted with a top quality scene of two guys sitting on a table playing checkers with a woman holding a baby standing behind th table. Lots of superb detail all around like a doorway with grape vines over it, a dog lying by the one guys feet and so on. An amazing quality piece! The scene is surrounded with a gold trim. The pipe is marked on the bottom end across it so only two small lines are visible but it is also marked on the inside with the underglaze blue scepter of around 1820. There is also an impressed number 8 on that front stub which only Meissen and KPM did. The pipe is in in as good a condition as one could hope for with only very minimal signs of wear. The pipe was used once or so I would guess but it is very clean on the inside. The porcelain piece is 4.75 inches tall and about 1.375 inches in diameter. It comes with the rest of the pipe assembly which is in pretty good shape with a crack in the horn piece where the porcelain pipe is inserted. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
