Art Nouveau Father/Child Figurine

This is a superb large and rare figurine made by KPM in the early 20th century. It is of a dutch father and his daughter dressed in traditional clothing and handpainted to perfection! The piece is painted in the Art Nouveau or Jugendstil style of the period in underglaze colors that one rarely sees used. The piece was designed by Rudolf Marcuse who is very well know for his figurines though I know him more for his work at Rosenthal but apprently he also did work for KPM and a few other makers. This is a very alrge and unusual piece I have not seen before. The figure is in perfect condition with the exception of a firing crack on the left side of the base from the making which was so common on these large pieces that they did not even make it a second choice piece. The figure is about 10.5 inches tall, 6.625 inches wide and 8.25 inches deep. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter, the blue orb (used only on udnerlgaze colored pieces) as well as the usual impressed nubmers and amrks and some painter's marks as shown. First choice pieces of this size are amazing and highly unusual. Not a piece you will see again anytime soon if ever! The right side of the base has the artist name impressed in it.
