Reticulated Damaskus Plate #1

This is a rare reticulated plate from the famous Damaskus Service made by KPM in 1906 for the personal use of Kaiser Wilhelm the Second. It is a really nice design based on 18th century Chinese lotus blossom designs and superbly handpainted with lots of detail. The central design is very different from the usual KPM flowers and also based on famille rose type Chinese designs from the 1700's. The rare part is the reticulated edge which is very hard to find on these plates! The plate is in good condition with some wear to mostly the gilding from use and two small chips to the inside of the footring. What makes this piece special besides being a nicely done piece is the fact that it was made for Kaiser Wilheml II and has his personal monogram on the back! The plate is 0.75 inches tall and has a diameter of 8.875 inches so a nice size! It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter, the red orb as well as a gold artist marks by the footring and impressed marks common to the early 20th century pieces. And off course the WR under a crown and the year 1906 under that in blue. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
