Bavarian King Cup & Saucer

This is a very rare porcelain cup and saucer made by KPM in the very early 20th century in the Art Nouveau period and style. Had to consult with some people that know about this stuff better than me on this set. Both pieces are hand painted with a superb design including a light yellow ground color , a deep cobalt blue ground color and lots of raised gold trim. There is a monogram to the saucer on silver ground of a scipt L and possible some other letters though I cannot make them out. The cup has a superb shape and that same awesome Jugendstil design alla round including more gold trim tot he inside. It is sitting on six little feet and has a superb handle all with more gilding. I have not seen this shape in this size before just demitasse pieces so this is special! The best part however is the front of the cup which has an amazing coat of arms to it including a crown over two lions and two Bavarian shields - this is the armorial of the famous Wittelsbach family of the electoral Palatinate of the Rhine , Kingdom of Bavaria and prince elector of Bavaria. More than likely this was a gift from Kaiser Wilhelm II to Luitpold Karl Joseph Wilhelm Ludwig who was the prince regent of Bavaria covering for King Ludwig II (the guy who build the famous Neuschwanstein Castle ) and King Otto. For this time period it was made in there is no other option and it had to have been a gift from the Kaiser since Leopold himself would have had a cup for himself made at Nymphenburg ! If you go to the castle they do have a couple of nice Nymphenburg cups there! A truly amazing cup and saucer with some nice history attached and from one of the most important families of Germany! The set in perfect condition and truly stunning! The cup is 3.25 inches tall and 3.375 inches in diameter. The saucer is just under 1 inch tall and 6 inches in diameter. Marked with the underglaze blue scepter mark as well as the red orb and the usual other marks of this period. Date code appears to be a C which would be 1903. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
