Craquele Vase

This is an unusual vase made by KPM in the mid 20th century right after WWII. It was more than likely designed by the famous Trude Petri and has a very rare design to the outside of a black craquele glaze. It basically has a black glaze to the outside that cracks when it shrunk during the firing to show the white underneath. It is an amazing affect and I used something similar when I build a display for some of my KPM plates in the house. It is unusual in that I cannot find another like it but this vase shape comes in a ton of different design each nicer than the other. There are some really cool decorations out there on this vase and this one here fits right in with them. The vase is in perfect conditon. The piece is 5.125 inches tall and 4.75 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark with the S underneath for the Selb location of the factory right around the end of WWII. It also has the usual impressed marks but no painter's mark. Maybe because this glaze is not really painted as the design happens randomly after application of the black. There are some scratch marks under the mark - really light but it might be a second choice. Not sure. Either way it is a very unusual and really nice piece!
