Chinese Mountain Goat

This is a rare figurine of a Chinese mountain goat made by KPM in the 20th century. Originally designed by Anton Puchegger in 1918 it is of the goat standing on an oval base, subtly painted in the rare under glaze colours of the Art Nouveau Jugendstil period. Puchegger completed an apprenticeship as a wood carver, then studied at the Art Academy in Vienna and moved to Berlin later on. He had success with his naturalistic porcelain animal sculptures that he created for makers such as Goldscheider , Vienna , and KPM. The goat is superbly modeled and hand painted with just a touch of color to make it look very realistic- just fantastic! The figure is in perfect condition with just a manufacturing flaw to its top back as shown from when it was made. The piece displays perfectly! The figurine is about 7.25 inches tall, 3.25 inches wide and 9.5 inches long. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter, their blue orb for under glaze painted pieces as well as an the usual impressed marks as shown.
