Biedermeier Fleur en Terrasse Type Cup

This is a great cup made by KPM in the early 19th century during the Biedermeier period. It is hand painted with a superb design that reminds me of the fleur en terrasse decoration they did on cups. Here we have five panels of different flowers on white ground surrounded by gilding some of which was tooled to have a leaf design to it. The rest is the usual shiny gilding including to the inside wall of the cup. Typical nice shape for this period. The cup is in great condition with some very minor wear to the gilding and some reddish residue to the bottom inside where the flat bottom meets the wall as if something fried up inside. I got a lot of it out but it is a bit stubborn so a bit is left as shown. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark as well as a painters mark and an impressed mark as shown. No red orb yet as they did not start using that until later on. The cup is 3.375 inches tall including the handle and 3 inches in diameter at the top. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
