Best Ever Weichmalerei Plate #2

This is something special. I have owned some amazing plates by KPM over the years but this one along with the other five on the site have to be the most amazing plates I have ever seen from this period in the Weichmalerei style. The plate was made in the late 19th century during the Art Nouveau period plate by KPM Berlin. The entire surface of the plate is hand painted with a top notch flower design including some multi blossom pink flowers as well as a nice purple colored leafy plant, some grasses and two large superb butterflies - one of them a swallowtail butterfly, a nice bee in the center and another smaller bug near the butterflies. The grasses here are painted in gold or have gold highlights. I cannot tell you how amazing this plate looks so have a look at the picture to get an idea - though it looks better in real life. To top it off the nicely shaped rim has raised Seger enamel "jewels" in green with some gold trim. I have not seen anything like it not can I find any others. A truly superb plate and it is in perfect condition with one spot of minor wear to the swallowtail wing. Nothing else and it displays perfectly. The piece is 1.25 inches tall and 9.75 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter, the red orb mark as well as a gilder's mark and the usual impressed marks of the period. Quite possibly painted by the famous painter Paul Miethe or Ernst Heinecke but it is not signed. Some of the plates have a red M as a painter's mark which I would assume is for Miethe and one is fully signed by Ernst Heinecke as well! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $3499
