Art Nouveau Castle Scene Plate #2

This is a stunning plate made by KPM in the early 20th century during WWI. It is very much in the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil style of the period and is hand painted with a scene in the center of a town by a river landscape scene including a ruin on top of a hill. The ruin is called Bacharach am Rhein . If you look up the town online the first picture you find is pretty much exactly as seen on this plate. The rim of the plate is nicely done as well not being the boring old kind but a bit wavy and a gold ring around the scene and some gold dots along the well edge make this a very elegant plate. Julius Menzel is best known for these kinds of scenes but the plate here is not signed. I have three more from this series and two are signed by him. The plate is in perfect condition with a small black firing spot on the rim at about 6 o'clock. The piece is 0.75 inches tall and 7.75 inches in diameter and marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter, the red orb mark, the black iron cross of the first World War, the number 50/39 in black, two artist marks, the usual impressed marks and also the title of the scene to the front. Bacharach a/ Rh. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
