Raised Flowers Box

This is a very interesting box made by KPM in the early 20th century. It is unlike anything else I have seen by them - combining an Asian flair with a bit of an Art Nouveau influence. You have the celadon ground color and flowers painted in an underglaze blueish color. The flowers are very detailed and the raised attached parts flow into just raised desins in the apste itself. Really a neat peice with a handle to keep from having to touch the flowers to open the lid. Someone was thinking here :) Nice gold trim to the edges and a orange pinkish ground color to the bottom inside finish this neat piece and make this one of my new favorite boxes! The box is in superb condition with three minor chips to the flowers/leaves. Impossible to find. It appears this piece has spend some time in a museum as you can see some museum IDs on it in red and black. The box is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter mark and the red orb mark. I cannot find any impressed letters so it might date to 1900 or a bit earlier. The piece including the lid and handle is 3 inches tall and 3.125 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
