WWI 1916 Christmas Plate #2

This is a plate made by KPM in 1916 during World War I. It was handpainted by someone with the initials MD in the Art Nouveau or Jugendstil style with a scene of a soldier sitting on a horse riding by a house in which you see a christmas tree through the window. Underneath it says Weihnachten 1916 (Christmas 1916). So much for peace and so on for Christmas. A very interesting piece of porcelain with a some propaganda and history attached. The rim is nicely done as well not being the boring old kind but a bit wavy. The plate is in perfect condition. It is 0.625 inches tall and 7.75 inches in diameter and marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter, the red orb mark, the black iron cross of the first world war, the number 50/66 in black, the number 63. in black, an artist mark in green of a K in a circle and a black script L likely another artist mark as well as the usual impressed marks one finds on the pieces of this period. The scene is signed by the artists initials MD by the horse's left front leg. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $349
