Scenic Chamberstick

This is a really nice chamberstick made by Hoechst in the 18th century. It is superbly modeled and is hand painted with four puce scenes around the base and some nice puce and blue trim. Not a common piece at all though they also made this piece when the company got resurrected in the 20th century for while. The 18th century pieces are always far superior to the more modern pieces! The candleholder is marked with the under glaze blue wheel mark under a crown as shown as well as the incised letters H I. It is in great condition with a firing crack to the bottom edge as shown which does not take away from the piece and one underside edge chip to the scrolls under the drip catcherthough part of that is painted over so likely from when it was made! The candlestick is 3.125 inches tall and about 4.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $699
