Hannong Pot de Creme

This is a lidded cup / pot au jus / pot de creme / hot chocolate / custard cup made by Hannong of Strasbourg in France in the 18th century. This type of cup was used for hot chocolate or meat juices (like a strong broth) to drink. The cup has a nice shape to it and is hand painted with a large floral arrangement to the front as well as two smaller ones to each side. The lid has three single flowers to it and a nice fruit finial. Gold trim to the edges and handle. The piece is in great condition with a minor chip to the leaf of the finial and if you look closely you see that there is a firing flaw underneath the large floral arrangement that was painted over. Like something stuck to it in the kiln. Obviously they thought it was salvegeable and just painted it over. Tiny chip to the top edge of the cup as shown. The cup is marked underneath with their under glaze blue script h mark as shown. Incised x under the glaze as well. The cup and lid are 3 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter.
