Gotha Sepia Scene Cup w/restored Chip & Saucer

This is a cup and saucer made by Gotha in the 18th century. Gotha is probably the best of the Thuringia makers in terms of quality of the paste and painting. They existed from 1757 until 1937 in one form or another. This cup and saucer are each hand painted with a scene in sepia colors typical for this maker. One on the front of the cup and the center of the saucer. A bit of gold trim to the edges and handle. The set is in good condition with a well restored small chip to the top edge of the cup. The overspray has yellowed a touch and that is the only reason why one can find it. It was well done! So they displays very nicely! A bit of wear to the gilding on the handle and just a touch to the edge of the saucer and a tiny nibble to the foot ring of the saucer from when it was made. Both pieces are marked underneath with the underglaze blue R. g. mark as well as some incised / impressed marks normal to their wares. The cup is 2.375 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or photos.
