Gort Figurine

This is a really nice ceramic figurine made most likely by Gort in the mid 20th century. The Gort China Company was started by brothers Eric and Walter Gort in Metuchen, New Jersey in 1944. Since I live in NJ I figured it would be nice to have a piece of theirs. They produced some of the highest quality bone china in America in small editions of varying subject matter. The factory was closed around 1955 so they did not produce pieces very long! In my opinion this is one of the nicest pieces they made likely because the artist that modeled it also worked for Goldscheider which explains the superb style of the figure . Her name was Helen Liedloff. The figurine is of an Asian prince holding a white crane I believe. The chinoiserie pieces is nicely modeled and hand painted. The back of the base is signed Helen Liedloff - not sure what the underside looks like since it is attached to a metal base. The figure11 inches tall with the metal base adding another inch or so, 4 inches wide and long and 2 inches deep. The metal base has a diameter of just under 4 inches. The piece is probably marked underneath but I did not try to take off the base. The piece is in great condition with the typical craqzing that these pieces always have. It's a stunning looking figurine! Please email me for more information or other pictures. Prag
