Harrach Scenic Tazza

This is an interesting pedestal dish / tazza made of glass and brass or bronze. I am not a glass guy but this was a really neat piece of top quality so I could not say no. From what I can figure out this sort of brown glass was made by a Czech / Bohemian company called Harrach ( Harrachov )in the late 19th century. The dsign possibly done by Alfons Maria Mucha . The dish itself is made of that brown glass and has a flat shape to it with a steep outer edge. It is decorated with what I would call Limoges enamel in the porcelain world but not sure what it would be called in the glass world. A nice blue, white and gold trim to the inner edge as well as the outside edge but what really caught my eye was a superb scene in the center of a lady / priestess at an offering table. The quality anddetail of that scene is absolutely top notch. The scene has a blue and white fancy design under it. From what I could figure out is that around 1876, Harrach decorated a limited number of glass pieces in a Renaissance Revival framework, with carefully painted small depictions intended to emulate cameos of that time period. It is a type of white enamel or paste applied in thin layers, similar to pate-sur-pate on porcelain. The cameos were typically of putti but the scene here is much nicer. What only adds to this piece is the bronze or brass base with lion feet and lots of detail to the metal plus a handle to each side. Each of the feet is marked with an impressed EH as shown. A truly stunning piece of amazing quality! The piece is in superb condition with some oxidation to the metal which is a given over this time period. The entire piece is about 3.625 inches tall with a diameter of 8.375 inches. Please email me for more information or photos.
