Doccia / Ginori Stein belonging to Ambassador

This is a superb scenic lidded stein / tankard made by Doccia / Richard Ginori in the mid 19th century. It was supposedly given to an American Ambassador to Italy named Brot but I cannot find anyone by that name so ??? Either way it is an amazing piece that has the Ginori / Doccia signature relief biblical / mythological scenes all around the central part of the body that was then all hand painted to perfection and very detailed with a colorful trim to the bottom including a blue and gold "pearl" trim along the bottom. The relief is much more pronounced on this piece than most others I have come across by them which makes it look really nice! There are nude ladies, a jaguar, a faun, putti, etc. The interior is entirely gilded and the outside bottom rim is gilded as well. The lid has their typical floral garland and bows design to it with a large lion with its paw on a vase finial. Gold trim to the edge. The handle is amazing but a bit strange - a camel's head with nude breasts below it with the rest of the handle having been painted blue with a scroll design at the bottom. The metal fitting are bronze or brass. Precision work on the mounts since when the lid is open the thumb rest sits right on top of the camel's head. A proper container for your evening beer! The piece is marked with the under glaze blue letter N under a crown mark as shown. The entire stein including the lid is about 9.125 and it has a bottom diameter of 4.125 inches. The tankard is in perfect condition with just the most minimal signs of age. As good as they come! A superb piece that is hard to find! Comes with a bit of provenance as shown though I question that a bit. Maybe the person was not an Ambassador? No idea. Please email me for more information or photos.
