Doccia Puce Scenic Sauce Boat

This is a rare sauce boat or sauce dish made by Doccia in the first half of the 19th century. It is hand painted with two great puce landscape scenes to the sides and a figural lion head handle highlighted with gilding. Gold trim to the edges. An unusual piece I ahve not come across from them in an attractive shape. The dish is in good condition with wear to the gilding and two chips to the foot edge on one side as shown. The piece is 5.75 inch tall, 7.5 inches long and 3.375 inches wide. The base is marked underneath with a gold star as well as an incised cross and two lines.
