Rare Lady's Head Vinaigrette

This is a really interesting piece! I am sure it is German in origin and it does have two tiny swan silver hallmarks impressed which are import marks into France. Looking at those marks and the hair design it fits into the late 19th century. I have never seen nor can I find anything like it. I would say it acted like a Vinaigrette but was used as a pendant. The front of the piece is made of porcelain in the shape of a lady's head that is hand painted to a very high quality! The back of the piece is some sort of stone - probably agate and the mounts are silver. It opens like a small snuff box but inside you find a piece of cotton that was soaked in a perfume oil that still smells nicely. That smell would ahve been stronger and could excape through the openings where the eyes are. A very unusual piece. The figural head looks amazing and it has a tiny ring on top of the mounts to use it as a pendant. The peice is in perfect condition. No issues and it closes nicely and stays shut. It is 2 inches tall including the little ring, 1.375 inches wide and 0.875 inches deep. Unmarked except the silver marks to the mounts. Definitely German with the quality of the painting and porcelain. Please email me for more information or photos.
