Russian Scenic Cup

This is a porcelain cup made most likely by Gardner but definitely by a Russian maker in the late 18th or early 19th century. The cup is very nicely hand painted with a landscape scene in the front including a water wheel and two guys fishing. Nice relief trim design including 'perls' to the top part of the cup, lots of gold trim and a nice handle. Really a nice example of what they could do in Russia at this time - competes with the Europeans goodies in terms of quality! The cup displays nicely with some wear to the inside gold trim but there is damage to the area where the handle is - a horizonthal hairline through the bottom part of the handle as well as in that goes from the handle down towards that other hairline but is hidden by the handle. Took pictures to try to show it as it is hard to describe. Still a superb and definitely rare example! It is marked with an under glaze blue mark of a G with two dots under that. The cup is 4 inches tall including the handle and 3 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $299
