Gardner Double Handled Vase

This is an interesting early amphora shaped vase / urn made by the Gardner factory in about 1765. An early piece that is nicely hand painted with a floral arrangement to the front and back as well as some smaller flowers along the sides and top. It has two handles - one on each side that are modeled nicely as twisted branches with a bit of puce trim to them. The shape is itneresting and I am not sure if it originally would have had a lid - I am leaning towards no as I see no evidence of wear at all. I could not find this model in my books eiher. Gardner was famous for their roses! The vase is 5.125 inches tall and has a diameter of 3.25 inches. It is in great condition with some minor wear and a few some manufacturing marks common on the early pieces. The piece is marked underneath with an underglaze blue capital G as shown. The dark mark seen on the underside is a large manufacturing flaw where an impurity has burned away. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
