Gardner Crossed Swords Mark Plate #1

This is a very rare porcelain plate made by the Gardner factory in the 18th century. With a mark I have only read about in books but never actually seen an example in real life. The plate is nicely handpainted with a floral arrangement in the center of a rose with three other flowers in the very typical fashion for Russian pieces of the time as well as three smaller flowers on the rim. The rim has a nice design to it with a brown trim to the edge. A very nice plate that one will not see again soon! Gardner was famous for these decorations and one ven made it into a royal service - the Everyday Service. The plate is 1.125 inches tall and has a diameter of 9.375 inches. It is in good display condition with some stacking marks, manufacturing flaws (black spots, an unglazed spot on the underside rim, etc.) and a restored area to the rim which has overspray which was scratched off in one spot - looks like it was meant to hide a hairline. Could be improved upon but displays fine as is and is certainly a rare example! A small footring chip and an almost chip which never came off the footring. The plate is marked underneath with an underglaze blue crossed swords mark as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
