Yellow Ground Floral Vase

This is a very nice large lidded vase made by Furstenberg in the 18th century. It is hand painted with a rare yellow ground color and has two large panels with a superb floral arrangement in each as well as two smaller panels with flowers in them as well. The panels are irregularly shaped and outlined with a black line to separate the yellow ground rom the white background of the flower panels. A really nice look! The lid has the same decoration and a flower finial. This is a solid lid but you can also sometimes find them with reticulated panels to make it a potpourri vase. The whole vase is rather nice and in great condition. The main body is perfect but the lid has a section of the inner ring missing that sits inside the vase. It still sits securely and that damage is invisible when in place. It also has a small rim repair from a small chip and the flower finial has some major work done to it. There is some original left but hard to say how much since a restorer went over board which is sadly the norm. The leaf is OK with some overpaint which I don't think was necessary and the stem has been worked on as well. Still ncie to have the lid and it displays beautifully! The piece is 15 inches tall, about 11.5 inches wide and about 8.5 inches deep so rather large. Vases were the most important product of Fuerstenberg during this period and this piece shows us why - quite stunning! It is marked with the underglaze blue F mark as shown on the inside top rim of the main body. Please email me for more information or photos.
